AUGSBURG FAIRVIEW ACADEMY

Six seats on the Augsburg Fairview Academy School Board need to be filled in the school’s upcoming election of new Directors. These will be for two-year terms. Newly elected Directors will assume office on January 1, 2012, along with five Directors whose term runs for another year.

Open Seats Three of the open seats are reserved for licensed teachers currently employed by AFA.

The other three seats are reserved as follows:

• one for a parent of a current AFA student;
• one for a community member (who may also be a parent of an AFA student, as well); and
• one for an individual designated by Augsburg College to represent it on the board.

If two or more parents seek to win a seat on the board, all will be listed as eligible for both the parent and community member seat. The parent with the most votes will be elected to the seat reserved for a parent. The votes for the other parents will be considered for the seat reserved for a community member along with the votes cast for candidates who are not parent.

Interested persons must submit a written notice of intent to be a candidate for election. This notice must be mailed to Dr. Anne Kaufman, AFA Board President, 2504 Columbus Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55404 or emailed to Dr. Kaufman at kaufman@augsburg.edu.

All notices must be received by November 1. Candidates will be requested to submit a brief biography before ballots are sent out but this need not accompany the notice of intent.

Information about the AFA Board and the election will be available at the school on Thursday, October 27 in conjunction with parent-teacher conferences and family night (after 4 PM until evening).

Election ballots will be mailed to all eligible voters on November 21

The election will be held at the school on Friday, December 2 from 7:00AM until 7:00PM.
