AFA Recently Established an Indian Education Program

Augsburg Fairview Academy has recently established an Indian Education Program; our program will meet the unique academic and cultural needs of its Native American students.

We have applied for the Success for the Future Grant through the Minnesota Department of Education. If we receive this grant, we plan to have a Native Arts class, an Ojibwe language class, a Dakota language class, a Native American Family Involvement Day, tutors, speakers, staff development and training, and a Native American Resource Library. We have already started work on our Native American resource library, which will include a wide selection of non-fiction and fiction books, DVDs, and curriculum. We have received many positive responses to our request for donated materials for our library and have received donations from Penguin Groups, Crazy Crow Trading Post, Red Balloon Bookshop, Rich-Heape Films, Inc., and Magers & Quinn Booksellers.
