Augsburg Fairview Academy’s Social Work Department utilizes a non-judgmental, harm-reduction, holistic, strengths-based approach. Our Social Workers offer emotional support and connect students and families with resources in the community. In addition to our two Social Workers, we are a host site for Master’s of Social Work interns from Augsburg College, the University of Minnesota and St. Catherine’s University.
Students are able to meet individually with our Social Workers and join a variety of groups, including Boys Group (Male Identified Students), Girls Group (Female Identified Students), Native American Group (Self-Identified), Art Group and LGBTQAA Group. Students also have access to The Hope Closet, which contains food and clothing. Student volunteers maintain the closet to ensure the clothes to ensure are age appropriate.
