Essential Job Functions: |
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties: –Cultivate strong, positive relationships with students –Drive students who qualify for curb-to-curb transportation to and from school –Determine and coordinate routes and contracted transportation with students, families, and contractors –Consistent and regular communication with students, families, and contractors regarding pick-up and drop-off –Conduct pre-trip inspections of the school van prior to every trip, following routine security procedures and completing all forms that are required –Report all accidents and pupil injuries to the Executive Director immediately –Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather, prioritizing student safety –Perform van housekeeping duties inside and out, cleaning van windows as needed (particularly of ice and snow), and taking the van for regularly scheduled maintenance and detailing –Maintain student order at all times while driving the school van to ensure adherence to safety rules –Comply with health and safety codes, including OSHA standards –Familiarize students with and enforces school-wide behavioral expectations for the lunchroom and hallway during lunch periods, as directed –Escort students to approved locations in the building as necessary –Provide building entrance supervision, follow student sign-in procedures, and verify the identification of all adults attempting to enter the building –Supervise hallways during class periods and during passing times, including periodic checks of restrooms and office spaces during passing times and at the beginning and end of class –Pick up meals from the caterer, serve breakfast and lunch, clean the serving kitchen, serving utensils, and wipe down lunch tables after service –Provide on-site conflict resolution, referring incidents to the Lead Teacher or Executive Director –Provide building support in monitoring student attendance and class punctuality –Maintain a high level of fairness, confidentiality, respect, and equity for all students, staff, and families –Maintain confidential and non-confidential records (e.g. student database system, activity logs, phone logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing up-to-date references, and audit –Participate in professional development, consistent attendance, and follow routine security procedures –Submit records in compliance with district and state guidelines –Present a positive image as a representative of the school district –Observe all Board of Education policies and regulations and comply with all School District Work rules –Attend monthly Family Night, Academic Conferences, Graduation, and all other required events –Commitment to self-care and maintaining and modeling healthy boundaries –Performing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Special Education Director or Teachers |
Desired Qualifications: |
–High School Diploma or equivalent and must be eligible to work in the United States –Must possess a valid driver’s license with no restrictions –Must meet state physical examination requirements –Must pass pre-employment screening and meet Department of Transportation guidelines –Must meet Local and State standards for Driver record check and criminal record check –Work experience in an urban charter high school –Ability and willingness to perform all performance responsibilities assigned –Excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and collaborative skills with adults, students, and families –Personal and professional alignment with Augsburg Fairview Academy’s unique mission and vision –Expertise in best practices working with youth in an urban setting and collaborating with students, families, and the intercultural communities our school serves –Ability and willingness to collaborate and communicate with colleagues, students, and families –Understanding and belief in Augsburg Fairview Academy’s unique mission and vision –Track record of success serving youth with significant developmental risk factors –Training and experience with Circle of Courage, RAP, or other restorative practices |
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |

Physical Demands and Work Environment: |
–Required to talk, hear, walk, climb, crouch, crawl, balance, stoop, kneel, reach for objects, use repetitive motion, stand, push, pull, lift, and use hands to grasp and feel; –Continually required to communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, support staff, students, parents, guardians, and the community; –Continually required to operate a walkie-talkie, computer, and software/applications such as Google Drive; –Requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 45 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; –Work has standard vision requirements; –Work requires operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; –Work regularly requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens or airborne viruses, and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; –Work frequently requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to vibration and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to the risk of electrical shock; –Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic). |
