We are located in the Keewaydin Neighborhood of Minneapolis about three blocks east of Lake Nokomis at 3109 East 50th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55417.

We are co-sponsored by Augsburg University and Fairview Health Services, who are committed to working together in order to provide students with an education that prepares them for careers in Health Care, Education and Human Services.
What transportation is offered to students?
All AFA students are provided with MetroTransit Go-To Cards. The cards are active for the whole school year, as long as the student remains enrolled. The cards are active 24 hours a day, which provides students with reliable transportation to school as well as to volunteer and work opportunities. Students will need to pay extra fare if they take an Express bus, and will need to pay a replacement fee for any lost cards.

AFA has two libraries: the Multicultural Resource Library and the Native American Resource Library. A list of materials can be found on our website. Many teachers also have materials available in their classrooms.

Enrollment at AFA varies, but our average enrollment is about 100 students.
Do students wear uniforms?
No, AFA students are not required to wear uniforms.
What clubs / groups does your school have?
AFA offers a variety of clubs and groups, and student are encouraged to create clubs that reflect their interests. Some groups/clubs that AFA has offered are Prom Committee, Student Council, Public Achievement, Video Game Club, Boys Group, Criminal Justice Group, Girls Group, Hope Club, LGBTQ Group, and Indigenous Club.
Does your school offer Special Education services?
Augsburg Fairview Academy has a Special Education Department that includes Special Education Case Managers and Special Education Paraprofessionals. The Special Education staff provides academic support in both general education settings and small-group settings.
Can students earn credit for working?
AFA offers a Work-Based Learning Program, allowing students to earn up to 3.5 elective credits through work or volunteer opportunities.
How does your school support Native students?
AFA offers an Indian Education Program designed to support our Native American students and the broader school community. This program includes Dakota Studies, Ojibwe Studies, Native American History, Native American Family Involvement Day, a Native American Presenter Series, and a Native American Resource Library. Students also have the opportunity to participate in field trips to Indigenous-owned businesses and organizations, community Powwows, and events like the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Marches. Additionally, our Indian Education Coordinator and Cultural Liaison provide support to staff in integrating Native American history, culture, and language into their curriculum.
