AFA’s Indigenous Education Program supports the academic, cultural, social, emotional, and postsecondary success of American Indian students.

American Indian Parent Advisory Committee
AIPAC provides guidance and feedback about AFA’s programs, services, curriculum, student outcomes, family engagement, and use of Indigenous Education funding.
Postsecondary Success
We help students explore colleges, tribal colleges, career programs, apprenticeships, scholarships, PSEO, training programs, and employment.
Family & Community Partnerships
We collaborate with families, tribal nations, community organizations, cultural educators, colleges, and Native professionals.

Through drum, song, ceremony, art, language, relationships, and community, AFA helps students connect cultural identity with confidence, purpose, leadership, and belonging.
Family Voice
American Indian Parent Advisory Committee
AFA welcomes parents, caregivers, students, staff, and community members to participate in the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee, also known as AIPAC.
AIPAC helps evaluate whether school programs, curriculum, services, and supports are meeting the needs of American Indian students.

AFA acknowledges the ongoing impact of colonization, forced assimilation, boarding schools, displacement, and educational inequities experienced by American Indian communities.
We also recognize the strength, resilience, sovereignty, knowledge, languages, cultures, and continuing presence of Dakota, Ojibwe, and other Indigenous peoples.
Land Acknowledgement
Honoring the Land and Its First Peoples
Augsburg Fairview Academy acknowledges that our school is located on the traditional, ancestral, and contemporary homelands of the Dakota people.
We recognize the Dakota people as the original stewards of this land and honor their enduring relationship with this place. We also acknowledge the ongoing presence, cultures, sovereignty, resilience, and contributions of Dakota, Ojibwe, and other Indigenous peoples who live, learn, work, and build community throughout Minnesota.
This acknowledgement reflects AFA’s commitment to continued learning, respectful relationships, Indigenous student and family voice, and meaningful action in support of Native students and communities.
