Student Recruitment, Retention, & Engagement Specialist

AFA is seeking a passionate, goal-oriented, and equity-driven leader to join our team as the full-time Student Recruitment, Retention, and Engagement Specialist as soon as possible.

Summary:
The Student Recruitment, Retention, and Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing an annual student recruitment and retention plan that aligns with AFA’s goals. This position will also plan and execute events for AFA students and families outside of school hours, resulting in greater school engagement and cultural connection. In addition, this position will report to the Executive Director and work closely with all AFA employees to collectively recruit new students and retain current students.
Essential Job Functions:
*Work with the Executive Director and Lead Teacher to set, track, and implement student recruitment and retention plans to achieve goals
*Coordinate and manage all recruitment, retention, and enrollment activities
*Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, attend community events, present to local nonprofits, and develop new initiatives for student recruitment with local middle schools
*Plan and facilitate family engagement initiatives and provide a welcoming environment for families and visitors
*Coordinate student and family engagement events, including but not limited to orientation, open house, family nights, academic conferences, and more
*Follow-up with student applicants and track enrollment data Input, track, report, and analyze all data regarding student recruitment and retention benchmarks and goals
*Communicate with existing families to enroll siblings and access local networks to support recruitment goals
*Communicate with prospective families to engage them in AFA’s mission and provide clarity and consistency throughout the enrollment process
*Work with Executive Director to develop recruitment and retention budget and make decisions about where to invest resources
*Maintaining a variety of confidential and non-confidential records to document activities, providing up-to-date reference and audit
*Participating in professional development activities
*Submitting records in compliance with district and state guidelines 
*Presenting a positive image as a representative of the school district
*Observing all Board of Education policies and regulations and complying with all school district work rules
*Attending monthly Family Night, Academic Conferences, Graduation, and all other required events
*Regular, predictable attendance and following routine security procedures
*Commitment to self-care and maintaining and modeling healthy boundaries
*Other duties as assigned

*Experience in admissions coordination or recruitment and knowledge of recruitment best practices

*Bilingual (Spanish or Somali preferred)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
*Required to talk, hear, walk, climb, crouch, crawl, balance, stoop, kneel, reach for objects, use repetitive motion, stand, push, pull, lift and use hands to grasp and feel
*Continually required to communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, support staff, students, parents, guardians, and the community
*Continually required to operate a walkie talkie, computer, and software/applications such as Google Drive
*Requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force
*Work has standard vision requirements; Work requires operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities;
*Work regularly requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens or airborne viruses and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment work frequently requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to vibration and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to the risk of electrical shock; 
*Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic).
Position Logistics:
*Monday – Thursday from 7:45am-4:00pm and Friday from 7:45am-3:30pm
*Year-round position
*Occasional night and weekend events
*Ability to conduct site visits with prospective students and families, partner schools and organizations
*Compensation based on the Augsburg Fairview Academy FY22 salary schedule
